A syndicate had been accessing ID documents of directors in a company in order to fraudulently apply for credit and place orders on behalf of that company. The products were then collected and the targeted company was left with the account.
In this case, a manufacturer of flat screen television sets suspected that a large order had been fraudulently placed and that a loss was imminent.
Because of the small size of Mtrack and the fact that it is totally wireless, the client was able to hide a device in the cargo for collection by the suspected syndicate.
The goods were subsequently collected and the recovery team tracked the load. The Mtrack device led them to an upmarket townhouse complex in Morningside, Sandton, where four arrests were made and 90% of the goods were recovered.
The next afternoon when stock was taken, it was discovered that one of the Mtrack units was still missing – one of the television sets had been disposed of before the arrests were made!
The recovery team reactivated the Mtrack and again tracked the device to yet another upmarket townhouse complex in Rivonia, where a woman and her accomplice who had purchased the stolen property were arrested and the television set recovered!
